In Florida, hunters have successfully caught and removed hundreds of pythons as part of official conservation efforts.
A professional python hunter in the Florida Everglades recently stumbled upon what can only be described as the ultimate nightmare buffet: two massive, neighboring nests packed with a combined total of roughly 120 Burmese python eggs.
Vadivel Gopal and Masi Sadaiyan came to Florida as part of an ongoing effort to control the explosion in the python population in the Everglades National Park and beyond. Writer, filmmaker and conservationist Janaki Lenin has been accompanying the two men and documenting their python hunt.
"After the first time you see one, you'll start seeing them, but you'll also go nights [without seeing them.]"
Florida alligators are opportunistic feeders with a wide-ranging diet. Invasive Burmese pythons are on the gator menu.
